Is my Akita's American or Japanese?
could anyone tell me if my akitas are American or Japanese when we fetch them off the breeders ( both different breeders) we was told they was japanese akitas but as they are geting older they look very different to each other

Yep, both American.
Japanese only come in three colours, red/white, brindle or pure white. They can never have black masks or be pinto. The two breeds were only recently split (only the US and Canada have not split the breeds yet) so there is still a lot of confusion and dogs are still being wrongly registered as Japanese.

is akita inu (Japanese akita, akita not American) make good pets? Can anyone recommend a good breeder in Ontario? thanks
They make great pets for the right holder. He was unable to find a Japanese Akita Inu Club, but was able to find an American Akita Club, who will settle for that? Http: / / www.akitaclub.ca/
