Does anybody know of any king Charles spaniel's for sale in Wales?
I live in Wales and I do object to all breeders being labelled as puppy farmers just because of where they live!
Are you in North or South Wales?
Wherever you buy your puppy make sure you see the pups with their Mum and preferably NOT their dad (that indicates Dad has been used because he's "convenient" not because he's the best match for the Mum) and that the parents have had all the necessary health checks before being bred. Breeders should have only one or possibly 2 breeds and only have one litter available at any one time. Be prepared to go on a waiting list too.
I would be very wary of Cavalier recreation - personally, I'd want to buy from someone with more than 2 yrs experience in a breed. Find a breeder who is willing to talk to you openly and honestly about the breed's problems. They do have health problems but sometimes the media has hyped this up out of all proportion.
ETA "That looks to me like the breed is broken beyond repair " - a lot of people said that about the Irish Setter in the 1940s when it looked like the whole breed was going blind - last year over 1200 were registered! Dedicated breeders went through a lot of hard work and heartache to get there, I wouldn't think CKCS breeders are any different.
