How can I get my Labrador pup to stop scavanging!!?
I have a 10month old Labrador pup who has a serious scavanging problem!!! He gets walked an hour after his breakfast and supper but sometimes just spends the entire walk with his nose to the ground scavanging everything (and I mean everything!!) in sight. He will literally eat anything he can get in his mouth, plants, insects, bird eggs, horse poo, he'll even snatch butterflies out of the air and chomp on them!!! Like I said, he gets walked an hour after each meal and is on the correct food portions for his age/size, we also have plenty of treats available on his walks and we take a frizbee or ball with us. Its not hunger or boredom so why does he do it???
I wouldn't worry to much ! I have worked with labs for over 7 years as a gun dog trainer, even labs trained at the most advanced level still scavenge everything they can find ? Poo is a delicacy! I would love to say he will grow out off it ?!?!?!?!? But I have a 14 year old lab who is worse now than when he was a pup! All i can say is just keep an eye on what he picks up (i.e:bones, rotting food,sharp objects anything that will cause him harm?) or snatches out of the air (i.e : wasps, bees hornets?) and just enjoy him while hes a puppy ! good luck! x

I'm using Healthwise (large breed) puppy food. Is this correct. iam new to raising a puppy.
A good quality food is a necessity. I suggest you put your puppy large breed puppy food. It slows the growth will not develop bone problems. The dog will come to their size correct, but in quick bursts involving bones. There are many brands that are suitable just make sure it is for large breed puppies.
