Las Vegas Dog Breeders License Q&A

How do I get around neutering my dog in Las Vegas?

There was a law passed that I was never even warned about that says that your pets have to be not only licensed but spayed/neutered by the age of 4 months. They will fine $250 the first time and it goes up from there for each instance, topping out at $1000. It states in the law that you can get around it by getting a breeders permit, but we just have a 1 1/2 yr old Dachshund & she's not show quality... I don't even know if I want to breed her at all, but my problem with this is that she's my baby!! I don't ask that someone neuter their kid so why would they make it to where I have to neuter my dog?! This is really making me consider leaving Vegas...

If you want to be a responsible dog owner, you should do this without it being the law. Sometimes you just have to do things you don't want to, there is no way around it. Your dog will be fine in within a couple days after the surgery. Getting this done will also save both of you a lot of trouble down the road. When she is in heat, there is a good chance that every male dog in your area, even clipped ones, will be trying to mate with her. Just having her in heat will cause dog fights among male dogs that are not even in the same yard and actually get along at other times. Getting her fixed will prevent you from having to clean up after her. Getting her fixed will prevent any male dog that is off leash from trying to get into your yard. Getting her fixed will prevent her from having puppies that you don't want to deal with. Getting her fixed will completely remove all chance that she ever has a reproductive problem, including cancer, from now until the day she dies.

I could go on, but I think you get the idea. There are many reasons to get her fixed that have nothing to do with the laws in your state. There are only two reasons not to, and they are because you don't want to, and you don't want to spend the money to get it done. You seem to be the type of owner that cares for your dog so you would fall under the "don't want to hurt her" reason. You will actually be doing her a favor by getting her fixed if you have no plans to breed her, and since she isn't show quality, you shouldn't breed her anyways.

Las Vegas Dog Breeders License Q&A

How I can get a dog breeders license in Nevada?

I have a pair of Jack Russell Terrier that I think about breeding once the woman is about one and a half. But from my understanding of some talks I've had recently, the city of Las Vegas has made a law or ordinance of the population that requires all dog owners their pets SPAID or neutered by the time are four months old. Unless you're a licensed breeder ... I just need a little help point me in the right direction. I tried to ask the breeder I bought the female-mail, but she danced around my question. Any advice?

First of all, seeking legal advice at Yahoo response can lead to a lot of misinformation. The following response is supposed to live in the city of Las Vegas: The information is partially correct. City has created an ordinance that requires all dog and cat owners to spay or neuter by the time the animal is six months old. Las Vegas Municipal Code, chap. 7.14. However, there are exceptions, and one of them is whether the owner has permission from the breeder. It seems that you can get a breeder permit by filling out an application (http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Apply/20792.htm) and payment of the fee of $ 50. Of course, an amateur breeder and are not the same thing, it is necessary to complete the professional handler permit request. I encourage you to read through City Code relating to reproduction, in particular Chapter 7.40, you can find a link to the website of the city. If you have further questions, you really should seek advice from an attorney in your area. Good luck!
