How to get into UCLA or USC?
I'm just about to go into 9th grade and I would love to go to UCLA or USC to become a director of photography in the future. I know to get into these colleges you need to work very hard. I'm planning on doing as much concurrent enrollment and AP classes as possible (even some online classes). I've heard that the most important thing is the sat and act scores more then the gpa? If end up doing well in all of those should I get my bachelors degree in a cheaper college first then apply for UCLA or USC? I'm also out of state so is it worth it to move to california and become a resident to increase my chance of being accepted? Even though im still really young im very passionate about mapping out my career. And to stand a chance i need to try hard from the very beginning.
study hard, SAT and GPA come first, almost equally important. THEN comes extracurriculars. Aim for a 4.0 and a SAT score as high as possible. i know of many with a 4.0+ and a SAT in the 98th percentile who got rejected by UCLA. take the SAT a couple times. It does NOT look bad if you take it an excessive number of times.
i dont know how easy it is for you to relocate. also your ethnicty matters. the average Asian student at UCLA has an SAT that is 342 points higher than that of a Black student. So if your asian, you have to work exceptionally hard. take as many APs as possible, and get A's in them. a B in an AP is better than an A in a non-AP.
