Where can I find a Elkhound breeder?
I live in Maryland and and my parents are willing to drive all the way to NY or NJ or PA places around that area. I want a boy and a puppy possibly seven weeks or eight. Thanks reply ASAP

My puppies never leave home before they are 10 weeks, and preferably 12 weeks old. In a number of states, it is actually illegal to sell, or advertise for sale, a puppy under 8 weeks old.
Someone else has mentioned going to the parent club website (www.neaa.net). That is an excellent idea. Even if the people you contact don't have puppies available, they may be able to refer you to someone who does.
You'll also want to stay away from anyone who sells "without papers" for a lower price than "with papers." Your breeder should require that your puppy be neutered at the appropriate age. Your breeder should ask you many, many questions about your lifestyle; do you have a fenced yard, etc. Your parents will probably be asked to sign a contract. If these things don't happen, then you're at the wrong place. Your breeder should also guarantee and require that if at any time during the dog's life, you are unable to keep him, that the breeder will take him back.
Breeders who are listed with the NEAA are required to sign a Code of Ethics attesting to these.
