Miniature Australian Shepherd Breeder Q&A
Why do people say Mini Aussies aren't real?
I bought my miniature Australian shepherd about 4 years ago from a very well-known and respected breeder. We went to her house, saw the dam and sire and everything, and got the puppy. Now the puppy is fully grown, and the vet says she's really healthy and in good shape. She hasn't had any health issues (except for Lyme's disease about 2 years ago, but we gave her meds and it hasn't flared up again), but she has really small legs (which is understandable because she's a small dog breed). I just want to know what your opinions are (if you have a mini Aussie, or if you don't think they're "real" or "healthy" dogs). Thanks in advance.
They are not a recognized breed.... Australian Shepherds are often bred with Pomeranians and shelties to make them smaller. Just because the parents are both "mini" does not make the puppy a purebred. Look far enough back in the pedigree, it's usually not too far.
Not to mention, I think they are hideously ugly with deformed faces. all of them.
There is only one size.. and that is 18-21 inches for bitches, and 20-23 inches for dogs.
