Will my puppy ever start to bark?
I got my precious baby miniature schnauzer at 12 weeks from the breeder and he just turned four months. I've wanted a dog my whole life and I did my homework before selecting the breed. I'm familiar with mini schnauzers and interacted a lot with other dogs and both of his parents.
The breed is known for barking quite a bit at strangers and other dogs. However, my baby has been VERY quiet. He doesn't whine at all. The only time he whined was one night when he had his one and only accident in the crate.
He has barked 3 times. The first was when he was 14 weeks old upon meeting my parents dog. The second was at 15 weeks, the first time I ran the washing machine. The third was a week later at a dog he was playing with at the dog park. After that, nothing! Almost two months without a single bark.
Is this normal? Will he ever find his bark?
Maybe he feels no need to bark.
Or, he might be deaf, but very unlikely because he wouldn't have barked when he was in the crate and at the dog park.
