Native American Indian Dog Kennels Q&A
Where can i buy a Native American Indian Dog near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?
i cant seem to find any breeders or kennels :/ Help please???!!!
Come to any reservation and get one for free. They're just mutts, most of them strays. Why on earth do you want one?
Why not just get a stray from your local shelter if that's what you're looking for?
edit******oh, I see now. I just googled it. Yeah, I see some breeder decided to "invent" a breed of dog designed to resemble the original dogs (prior to 1492) which no one even knows what they looked like.
"any dog sold as an Indian dog is not a recreation. Original native dogs are extinct and have been since before the invention of photography. Indians themselves did not have a pure breed of dog. Theirs were mixed dogs. With the arrival of the Europeans, these dogs became interbred with dogs from Europe and other countries. Because the dogs were never a purebred dog, and because no one bothered to study into them much, it would be impossible to "recreate" them. The NAID are a new type of dog started by one breeder. "
Yeah, so it's a new "designer dog" invented by a single breeder, with a fake name. Our dogs have always been mixed breeds on the rez. I find it hysterical that the breed name has been trademarked. I'm native american, so I guess my mutt is a "native american Indian dog" too, then!
