Native American Indian Rare Breed Dog Q&A

Has anyone else ever heard of a Native American Indian Dog (NAID)?

I read up on these dogs and they are very interesting. Has anyone else heard of this really rare breed?

I believe a few people have been trying to "recreate" a breed, by cross-breeding a number of existing breeds. There is a Native American Indian Dog and a Native American Village Dog. They are not established breeds, but the people working on this are trying to create a dog that has the features of the kind of dog that used to live in America before the intrusion of the white man. They are rare because not many of them have been bred yet.

Here are quotes from a couple of sites.
"The Native American Village Dog is a breed that gives as close a representation of what the Native American dogs such as the Plains, Hare and Common Indian dogs may have looked like and the temperaments they would have needed in order to be used by the Native Americans in daily life, as well as within the village."
Regarding the NAID "Historical documents authored by missionaries, trappers, explorers and entrepreneurs recorded what life was like for the "Natives" and their dogs and many included drawings, paintings and photographs. It is upon this documentation that the breed was founded and then the name was trademarked by Mrs. Karen Markel, Majestic View Kennels, in the mid-1990's. "
