Newfoundland Puppies Uk Q&A

My 13 week old Newfoundland has runny poo?

My Newfie is 13 weeks old ever since we brought him home(4 weeks ago) his poo has been weird.he will go half a day with normal poo, then start having mounds(mountains actually!!) of soft poo with no shape.
The vet said it could be because he is getting used to his new home?I am not so sure now,I am thinking diet.
He now has has 3 meals of 200gms daily. We feed him Beta Large Breed Puppy Food.
This is the food the breeder recommended.
Does anyone have any suggestions before i go back to the vet on better food.We live in the UK.
Thanks

I have newfies too, and my male had the same issue when we first brought him home. Its probably a combination of a few things. The first is stress. Going to a new family and home can mess up a dogs stomach. He may also be eating too much. A newfie usually isn't a huge eater, but he is still a puppy, and a boy at that. He should probably only have about 4 cups of food, divided into 2 meals. If he eats it very quickly and doesn't leave any, then he needs a little more. If he walks away and seems satisfied, then you have the right amount for now. Give him a few more days, and then if he doesn't seem to do better, take a stool sample by your vet. Worms are very easy to get, and usually get rid of. But I wouldn't worry too much. I think my male's stomach did this for about a month. Maybe a little longer. Good luck, and great breed choice.

My 13 week old Newfoundland has runny poop?

My Newfoundland is 13 weeks since I brought home (4 weeks ago) your poop has been weird.he half day will be normal poop, then begins to have lots (mountains really!) of soft poop formless. The vet said it could be because you are accustomed to their new home? I'm not so sure now, I'm thinking in the diet. He it now has 3 meals of food you 200gms daily. We Beta Puppy Large Breed Food. This is the food the breeder recommended. Does anyone have any suggestions before returning the vet on improving food.We live in the UK. Thanks

I have Newfies too, and my men had the same problem when we brought him home. Is probably a combination of a couple of things. The first is stress. Go to a new family and home can get a dog stomach. You may also be eating. A newfie by usually not a huge dining room, but it's still a puppy, and a child in it. Probably should only have about 4 cups of food, divided into two meals. If he eats too fast and leaves, then you need a little more. If you move and seems content, then you have the right amount at the moment. Dale few days more, then if they seem to do better, take a stool sample by your vet. Worms are very easy to get, and usually get rid of it. But I would not worry too much. I think my man's stomach did this for about a month. Maybe a little more. Good luck, and the choice of large breeds.
