my husband and i are looking at getting a puppy for me because he works out of town.?
we want a non shedding small dog, we have agreed to no spaniels..anyone have any suggestions, and why would you pick that dog?
we will be living in an acerage in the months coming up
but the dog will probably need to be an indoor dog
The Yorkshire Terrier is a non-shedding dog as they do not have an undercoat like other dogs. Their hair is constantly growing which you will have to maintain by grooming on a daily basis. They are small, managable and very energetic dogs, whether you have them as pups or adults. They are very loyal, loving, affectionate dogs, they are also very intelligent and quick to pick up on new things. They can be taught many things and they do listen. They love to play, always want to have attention and believe me you, they are like little kids with no voices. The only fall back with a yorkie, they are very difficult to house train, but with your patience and consistancy with house training, your yorkie will fall into line.
If you do not socialize the yorkie with other dogs and people, they become very nervous when taken out into a busy environment. They are very small but think they are as big as great danes, have really huge egos, and will protect you at any cost.
