Can some1 explain to me why americans are so scared if we have nuclear power plants they are going to blow up?
For a nuclear explosion you need to have 100% u-235 or u-233 or Pl-239 for weapons grade material and it needs to have a super critical mass of 15 kilograms i believe. The reactors that would give our country power would run on 3% U-235 or U-233 or Pl-239 that can not blow up. If this country would stop all the nonsense of oh the reactor is going to blow up we could go fully nuclear and have enough energy for the next 900 years at least and if we used breeder reactors we could produce hydrogen to run our vehicles.
It's because the "American Dream" does not have a cost attached to it. Americans have come to believe that they can have everything they want and expect someone else to pay the cost. It's NIMBYism - Not In My Back Yard.
