Where can i buy crappie or perch (bluegill) in Oklahoma?
Ok, i'm trying to get a hold of some young crappie or perch around 2-5 inches, but i'm not trying to stock anything i'm only needing like 4 or 5 of them. i'm going to do something a little diferent with my freshwater tank. i'm not wanting answers that are generic like a breeder or a pet store unless you are specific, online stores are ok, what i'm wanting is an actual answer like "go to this place on this street and they have them, or this store at www.whatever.com." thanks for your help.
ok now to clarify, i do know how to fish but i can't seem to catch anything small enough for what i'm wanting. thanks for your responce though.
I am not sure that I have ever seen crappie, perch, bluegill etc for sell at any shop, granted I have not spent much time in Oklahoma pet shops.
I do know that these types of fish are native to the state of Oklahoma however, in fact they are widely spread accross the united states. I would recommend catching your own and putting them into an aquarium.
If you are not familiar with fishing, ask someone in the are that knows. You can usually catch perch, crappie, etc in shallow, warm ponds or lakes. If you fish close to shore with a small fly (flyfishing) or a tiny baited hook (if you are using a traditional reel) then you could probably catch a fish in that size range. Another benefit is that it is free.
I have kept bluegill/perch in a home pond and aquarium after catching them and they adjusted wonderfully! There are some great sites on the net if you google "perch care".
