Pictures Of West Highland White Terrier Q&A
How much bigger/smaller are Westies than Yorkies?
If you have a picture of them side by side please provide link!
Reason:
I havea male Yorkie
i want to buy a female Westie (West Highland White Terrier)
just wanted to see if the female would be bigger than an average sized yorkie (he's no more than 5lbs)
westie = Height: 10-12 inches (25-30cm.)
yorkie = Height: 6-7 inches (15-17½cm)
they are a lot bigger but does it seem significantly more or ...hardly?
westie = Weight: 15-22 pounds (7-10kg.)
yorkie = Weight: 3-7 pounds
no i DO NOT want to breed them...i just feel that the female should be smaller than my male...it looks funny if the female is bigger...
gods, please don't say because you want to breed them.
well, yorkies are naturally smaller. Westies average about 10-15 lbs because they're larger terriers that were bred to go to ground in hunt of vermin. Yorkies used to have a job, but have been bred to be companion lap dogs for a long time now. If it's 2 different breeds of dogs, then size doesn't matter. It'll be hard to specifically find a female dog weighing less than 5 lbs and not have to deal with thousands of dollars worth of health issues. Best to just get a healthy dog.

The strange lumps?
i have a 5 year old West Highland White Terrier female. in its hind leg, very close to where their footpads home has a little back, lump red on the size and color of a small berry. Anyone have any idea what it is? its been suggested that I should see a cyst, but I looked up images cysts on the Internet and does not look anything like her. thanks:) I just watched it again and the top bit seems to have formed a scab type thing with a lot of black crusts over small in it and that type of climbing if you choose to it and attached to the skin below < It sounds like a cyst, it may not seem web photos, but can still be training. Or you may have an embedded chip or something and is trying to surface. Good luck to her and hope she is well;) i have a 5 year old West Highland White Terrier female. in its hind leg, very close to where their footpads home has a little back, lump red on the size and color of a small berry.
