Might Be Getting a Portuguese Water Dog, Good Fit?
WE LOVE dogs!
And my dad's considering getting a Porty puppy , from a registered CKC breeder.
Is it a good fit?
I have a mildy autistic brother, who sometimes... "plays" with our dog at our moms.
We all have experience, especially me and my dad.
Can I know more about the breed? How long do they live, are they tolerant , etc.

Porties are smart, energetic and pushy. Mine is impossible if he doesn't get a good 30 minutes of exercise each day. Their personality is entertaining however they can be quite defiant. Known for habitual "counter-surfing". Obedience training is a must. They need an owner who isn't afraid to be the boss. It's a great breed for teenagers.

Question for breeders?
Someone had posed a hypothetical question about people looking at a litter. I was wondering what more absurd than the researcher had to say to you. (You know, the best friend has the same race ... in that sense ...) I think my good friend and breeder of Portuguese Water Dog was once approached by a couple whose house had burned ... and were looking to buy a dog before they had established a new permanent residence! I agree, Berners are so colorful that will yet! (JK)
* * I am not a breeder, however, one of my closest friends breeds Bernese mountain dogs. He had a young couple approach it in a program to inquire about her dogs and her breeding program. When my friend asked "why a Berner?" The woman answered, "Because match living with my colors "! ACK Needless to say he did not have a puppy: Add True, true. You just can not go wrong with black oxide, or white:)
