Potty training help?!?!?!?
I have a saint bernard puppy and he is impossible to potty train we have 2 other dogs both pad trained they are a teeny tiny chihuahua and the other a special needs puppy and the saint bernard rips up the pads and i will take him out for 15 to 20 minutes at a time and he will come in and go to the bathrroom in the floor
HELP???? my mom is gonna get rid of him
the 2 dogs who use pads are trained to them and the reason we use them for those 2 ib because my chihuahua was a rescue is is 2lbs and we have hawks where i live and the other dog isnt because she is deaf, blind in one eye and "special" so pads are what we use alot of people use them the saint bernard doesnt use them he destroys them
and he is a big dog so he doesnt go right after he eats
Throw away the training pads, all you are doing is teaching the dog to toilet inside your house, once taught it is OK it will pee/poo anywhere in the house, because you have taught it that..........toilet training is done outside....on a lead after playing, eating, and waking up and every hour or so in between ( no talking, no looking at the dog, no touching it) just walk outside take it to the area you want it to go, hold a loose lead and walk as the dog wanders sniffing and wait silently until it toilets, as it is doing it say 'clean' this is adding a simple word to an action that is happening now so your pup will associate this word with going to the toilet, so for the future you are teaching your pup to toilet on command.......all you need to do is be consistant and committed to toilet training the correct way and your dogs will ALL understand

I have a saint bernard 4 months old puppy. I can not get seem to go to the bathroom. I'll leave it out and be out there for about an hour or so and when he comes in he pee or poop in the house. I say it's bad, and I think he knows that its bad because your ears down and looks sad. What are some good suggestions about potty training? By the way I hit it, I do that? I would not, he feels bad.
I recently got a puppy and this is what I do. about every hour or two, put it on a leash, carry it in my backyard in a certain place and wait to pee or poop. when it does, give him a treat immediately. Remember take him to the same place, and standing in one place. Also, reward him after he goes, not when they will enter, because then he thinks hes being rewarded for comng interior.
