Potty Training Boxer Puppies Q&A

1. puppy potty training? 2. when will my 10 month old boxer stop being rough with 10 week old puppy?

i just got a 10 week old catahoula cur, blue heeler mix puppy. her name is cloe. i also have a 10 month old boxer and his name is conner. well, conner was trained when i got him, so i dont really know how to train a puppy. i put conner in the backyard about 15 minutes after he eats and and leave him out there for about 15 minutes to give him time to go, plus for a little fresh air. plus i take him on 10 minute walks 2 times a day. i do the same with cloe.

when cloe and conner go outside, conner trys to play with her, but gets 2 rough. cloe comes to the door begging to get in sqeeling her @ss off. so i let her in. eventually, she goes in the house.

so how do i train my puppy to go potty outside, and how do i get my boxer to not be so rough with puppy?

Puppies need to be trained separately. That's why the best time to get a second puppy is after the first one is 2 YEARS old. Connor is still very much a puppy, even if he was pretty well trained when you got him -- his mentality still says "play, play, play." He's not old enough yet to be a good role model for Cloe. He also needs more time to bond with you so that he doesn't bond more closely to the new pup; especially important since Connor hasn't been with you too long either. This is important for both of them to spend time with you one-on-one so that they are loyal to YOU, the leader, instead of being dependent on each other (this can cause all kinds of behavior problems down the road).

You need to take Cloe out alone for a while. Connor cannot be out with her or he will just pester her; and it's also important that YOU are out there with her to give her lots of praise when she "goes" where she is supposed to (outside). Whenever she goes inside, pick her up immediately and carry her out to finish. Give her praise when she finishes outside.

You MUST spend time with these two separately, training, exercising, and just spending quality time together. Connor does still need training! That's something that is lifelong; a pup doesn't learn all he can learn and then never need training again. It's just like when we learn something in school; if we don't practice it every so often, we tend to forget.

Why it's so important to train them separately (note that these articles are about siblings, but the same issues can arise when you have two puppies that are not from the same litter).

Potty Training Boxer Puppies Q&A

Boxer Puppy potty training??

How long does it take to train a boxer puppy to let you know you have to go to the bathroom .. example .. scratch the door or ring a bell hanging on the door. Sometimes it does ours, sometimes not .. he is 5 months old. What do you think??

I have two boxers who are my children. My three years old, took about 7-8 months to get it down pat (no errors at all). My baby is almost six months just have the hang of it. He knows he should not go into the house, however, as the owner has to be aware of them. It's your job to read your mind, if you see or smell away wondering put them out immediately. Sure have a lil 'about praise when they do go out (which is very important) Also remember that a puppy does not have bladder control until about 5-6 months. Good lucky! Boxers are soo fun!
