Would you ever do something like this?
There's a woman in my town who's selling pure bred Portuguese water dogs. They're really cute but really expensive (like, $2grand a pup). It's not the price so much though, it's that when you buy the puppy, she also wants you to sign a contract giving her breeding rights, which states that she takes the dog once a year, every year for six years to breed them. She keeps them while they're pregnant and then you have your dog back once all the puppies are sold.
Is this common ? I've never heard of it before until now, and I just couldn't imagine someone else having my dog for THAT long.
I'm so glad you all agree with me, I knew this didn't sound right in the least. Maybe I should report her . .
Absolutely ridiculous. 6 litters out of one dog consecutively, from a year old?! the woman's nuts! You're right, it IS dodgy and you're wise to come on here and check it out with the people who do breed responsibly. Ridiculous, really. Steer clear and inform others to do the same!
