So many pugs have horrible breathing problems. Why does the AKC make such poor breed standards?

These kennel clubs are the ones that set the standards, but why do people follow these inferior standards which make pugs and bull dogs have breathing problems?

The AKC makes Champions of dogs who have genetic problems. Pugs are just 1 breed. German Shepherds have been ruined in America BY THE AKC who promoted sloping backs. Well, a "cheater way" to get those backs to slope is to breed dogs with hip dysplasia. Guess what?

Hip dysplasia dogs made Championship status. They past the genetic problem directly to their puppies who also gained their Championships.

Now, most German Shepherds in America have bad hips.

Same with ear and tail cropping. Judges WILL NOT AWARD CHAMPIONSHIP STATUS to dogs with natural ears. At least not in California. Not right now. Undocked tails are a FAULT!!!

Yet, if you ask, they'll deny everything.

The AKC is out for nothing but profits.

To answer your question:
Showing dogs is a sport. People spend MILLIONS of dollars trying to get "Championship status" for their dogs. Some do it for the fun of competition. Some do if for bragging rights. A few do it so they can command higher prices for puppies. Still fewer do it to "better the breed".

But all of them do it for the win.

So, where there's a will, there's a way.
People like mushy faces and wrinkles.
Fine.
Inbreed until the dog can barely survive it's birth and infancy, give it all the surgery it needs and charge some poor schmuck $2500 for each "AKC puppy" and call it living the dream.

How often do you take your dog to a day camp?

O a-half-day field in which to leave your dog in one place and let him or her have fun playing with other dogs? I thought of killing 10-year-old apricot months to a pug-one half-day camps for four hours at PetsMart just so she can experience what its like to meet other dogs. I'm in a pug club which meets once a month for one and all to run and have a good time, but that of PetsMart, we are talking about different breeds of dogs. 4 hours is a bit too much for young age and I gradually the number of hours playing a puppy like mine can have?

By socializing your pet should begin as soon as received, because the longer you wait, the harder it will be.
