Silky terrier in Heat. Help!?
I sent my Silky Terier over to breed with a stud,and they are only stuck together for 30 seconds the last 4 times they have mated. The breeder said it should be longer. Is this normal? Does any one know how long dogs need to stay locked for order to result in pregnancy?
Usually the male mounts the female several times before he actually gets inside the female. The dogs "lock" together as a knot of sorts will form at the base of the penis inside the female.
The male then dismounts, turns around and stands tail-to-tail with the female with his penis still inside her - this is the “tie”. It can las as long as 45 minutes but the time doesn't matter. If the male dog has ejaculated then the service in complete.
