Small Dog Breeders Mn Q&A

Looking for a Shar Pei breeder with chocolate color pei's that are smaller in stature or the mini-pei?

Last night we had to put our best friend and companion to sleep due to major organ failure. He was a wonderful, loving and funny friend! He made us laugh, cry and scream at times. But always, he was love!!! My husband and I have not cried this much - in fact, I have never seen my husband cry like this before in our 12 years of being together. The BUG, which was his name was 14 years old.

I know that right now my husband probably does not want to get another dog; however, I know that our house will not feel like a home until we get one again. I am looking for a smaller in stature Pei or a mini-pei that is chocolate in color. I live in the mid-west - MN area. If you know of a breeder that has healthy pei's without disease or problems (the Bug never had one pei - problem ever); please let me know.

Greiving in MN!

Thanks!

The problem with breeders that breed mini-peis and those that breed for color (especially dilute colors like chocolate) is that they are less likely to be concerned with quality, health and temperament. Sad but true. Look instead for a breeder that has a reputation for producing sound, healthy, quality animals and then chose from what they have available. Not that you can't get a chocolate from a good breeder, but avoid those that are breeding specifically for color or small size. Mini-peis are much more likely to have health problems than their full-sized cousins.

Try contacting the Chinese Shar Pei Club of America http://www.cspca.com/
They should be able to refer you to member breeders in your area.

Small Dog Breeders Mn Q&A

Need help finding a small breed dog in the family?

Ok so we are entering a house with a backyard well. Let's put a fence, so I do not have to worry about my young children being naughty. We are looking small breed dog that is quick to catch the training needs of the low spread, good with children, along with the cold because we live in MN and must be under 50 pounds full grown. I've been looking online, but not so many different races. I wanted a large breed dog (Husky, St. Bernard, Akita), but they will not have a large breed, so for now until we find a home late in life that just want a small breed dog for our 4 children (7,6,4,2 years) to grow up. So any help would be greatly appreciated. We would be talking about not spending more than a thousand for a dog of the family of an excellent breeder. So Please allow me to some ideas of a good race. Thanks :-)

A schnauzer, which are low maintenance I have 3 my niece who is 2 and 1 / 2 can sit on them and they do not bite. Do not throw, so you can handle a small patio, miniture schnauzer. They are a bit lazy at times, though (:
