Why can't I Train my Beagle.?
My dog Blue constantly is urinating on himself and once in a while he will poop on himself. At night he sleeps in a kennel so he won't get into mischief. He is constantly crying to use the bathroom every three hours. He does not let me get any sleep ever since we got him over a year ago he's behaved this way which has affected my other dog "Buster" who will also poop in the house. Blue's just so bad he bites at Buster's legs and privates. The funny thing is that Blue is a Beagle and Buster is a Pitbull. Buster is calm compared to Blue who appears to have A.D.D.
This is a cry for attention.
The beagle was trained wrong in the first place, and keeping him in a kennel(contrary to popular belief) only makes matters worse. To correct this will require dilligence and sacrifice on your part. so the question is how badly do you want to keep this dog?
Assuming you do...
Start by taking him for LONG walks "DAILY" rain or shine.
this will benefit the both of you. If you don't have time then you don't have time to keep the dog.
Establish a firm time for these walks, and try to follow it religiously. Dogs thrive on schedules.
Start a reward system, when he goes "poop" or "pee" outside as you direct, then give him a doggie cookie.
Don't fool yourself this is a long drawn out method but if you stick to it,...it will work. Next year at this time you will not believe the change to this animal
