Toronto Humane Society Dogs Q&A
Adopting a kitten from the humane society?
Hello there,
i am looking to adopt a kitten from the humane society. I saw today various kittens at the pet store, but I don't like pet stores just because I'd rather adopt then buy.
My question is, how much do they cost?
I live in Canada.
Toronto, Ontario.
Also, if you already have other pets (I have 2 dogs, a cat and 3 rats) do they let you adopt? Or do you have to mention it to them beforehand.
They do need to know about other pets, mainly to give you a cat which is suitable to the environment. A lot of cats are not happy being around other animals, while others thrive on the interaction, so they need to know what your home environment is like. I highly doubt anyone would not "let" you adopt a cat just because you have other animals. That would be insane. They need good homes for their cats and having other pets actually implies you will be a better owner than someone who is getting an animal for the first time.
Adopted cats are significantly cheaper than pet shop cats, because they come desexed, with vaccinations and deworming already done, while for a pet shop cat you have to pay for all these treatments yourself. I can't give you an exact price because I don't know anything about Canadian currency, sorry, but all I know is that in Australia shelter cats cost between $100 and $300. Like I said, considering all their vet treatments are done this is a good price.

Toronto Humane Society Dogs Q&A
If crows / ravens for sale in Canada?
My brother and I raised a wild crow back to health with a broken wing, and she was a big animal. I found it to be a very smart dog and could be the luxury of a great freedom and return her to me. Unfortunately, he was killed by a neighbor's dog a few months later we live in Toronto and now I see crows around so I think the city could be a habitable environment for you. Is anyone aware of any places that may have to buy a pet crow? Does this legal? Is there a humane society or something I can check for orphaned crows could get injured? I've had birds before, but the crow was a very good and different experience, and if the opportunity is there, I'd love to try.
Sorry, but the possession of native birds is illegal:. There are non-native species such as African Pied Raven, which are available for sale http://www.birdfarm.com/sale/african-greys-for-sale.asp edition ... I I'm sure Canadian laws, but I imagine that all native North American birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty. This treaty it is unlawful for any person to possess native birds as pets. Moreover, with the exception of licensed rehabilitators, biologists, researchers, educators, zoos and museums - it is illegal to possess live birds, feathers or body parts, eggs or nests. Rehabilitation can only have a bird in his possession, during the same rehabilitation. Birds that can not be returned to their natural habitat, can be used to train the young birds, as educators or zoos - but can not be kept as pet birds. crows and ravens beautiful, intelligent they are. And should be respected as wildlife, and allows them to live wild.
