chicago to ontario what sights to see?
Planning a trip to Ontario Canada, driving from Chicago IL60088. We plan to go to Niagara Falls Ontario. Have already gotten the map from mapquest. Need help figuring out the best place to do stops where we can also do a little bit of sightseeing. Please help.

There are many wineries in the Niagara region, so if you are into wine, you can do various wine tastings. There are also golf courses throughout the region, so if you are golfers, then I suggest bringing your clubs.
It'll be about 4-5 hours in Southern Ontario from Windsor to Niagara Falls if you drove directly, so if you wanted to stop halfway in between, that would be London. London is alright - I go to university there. It has quite a few public golf courses, some alright restaurants, and some nice parks, but it's more of a good city to live rather than an exciting city to visit. However, there's Port Stanley 45 minutes directly south of London (just take Wellington Rd all the way south) which is a pretty cool beach town in the summer. There is also Grand Bend about 45 minutes northwest of London, which is another cool beach town (Grand Bend has a better commercial strip right by the beach, and cleaner water, but Port Stanley has a bigger beach - and Grand Bend is probably more of a tourist destination).
Niagara Falls will be the most exciting part of your trip so you'll probably want to spend the most time there (I'm assuming you're not going to Toronto, otherwise there would be TOO much for you to see and do).
By the way, London is 6 hours from Chicago, so definitely long past the halfway point of the trip, but there aren't many other areas to stop before you hit London. London is a decent sized city (around 350 - 400K) so you'll at least be able to get everything you need.
If you're going with kids, Clifton Hill will be the place in Niagara to go, and if not, the casino is probably the place to go. I also agree with the previous answer that the African Lion Safari is a good place to take kids. I would suggest Canada's Wonderland as welll, but that's in the northern part of metro Toronto so probably a little too far out of the way.
