Hi, I have a Yorkshire terrier and I was wondering what dog will get along with him.
Of course I will go to the local shelter so please dont tell me to go there. But it helps to know what you are looking for.

I'm glad to hear you're going to a shelter. There is no magical breed to look for that gets along with Yorkies. The only way to know if a dog will get along with you and your pup is to meet him before you sign any papers. Just pick a dog you like, and then the shelter sould be able to arrange a meeting among the 3 of you in an empty room or yard somewhere.
One thing you may want to think about, regarding the other stuff, is to look at dogs that are in foster care somewhere, and not in the shelter itself. You can find these dogs by asking at the shelter, or on petfinder.com. This will give you a much better idea of what the dog is like in the home, i.e. if it is playful or destructive. When a dog is in a shelter it is often stressed, under-exercized, and scared, so may not show its true personality when you first meet him. You can also ask the foster parent any other questions you may have.
