Which dog breed should my family get?
My family is looking for a dog of any breed that does not bark too much and can stay alone for some periods of time. Other than those things, everything else can be tolerated.
Barking is mostly a matter of training, not breed, so provided you are willing to train your dog not to bark, any breed would do. Being left alone also has little or nothing to do with breed, though high-energy breeds should be avoided as they would not do well in that situation. Apart from that, your requirements are few, so any breed could work for you. Since you will be away from home for some part of the day, I would not recommend a puppy, as they need almost constant supervision for the first few months.
