Do you know where I can get a Yorkie puppy with good blood lines, but not too expensive?
I want to be able to show it in AKC and UKC, I may breed it. I also want a male. I want it to be a puppy! Do you have any webisites or names of breeders available? I might be able to buy one, in the spring or summer. . .
Please don't take this the wrong way...
If you want to show a dog - and actually win... you will have to spend a good deal of money.
I have shown dogs for many years & I saved money to buy my first show dog & bought the best dog that I could afford. I did A LOT of research about my chosen breed before I ever even considered purchasing a dog.
At that point, I had to co-own her with her breeder - because that's the ONLY way you are going to get a good show dog.
Also, most breeders won't even guarantee that a dog is a show prospect until it's older. At least six months.
Many people purchase a mediocre puppy & then try to show it & get upset & hurt & etc because they think everyone at the dog show is stuck up or mean or nasty or something when they don't win - when really they haven't gotten a good dog.
Also - regarding breeding the dog - it costs a LOT of money & a lot of time (and even a lot of tears!) for us breeders to get to where we are with our dogs. Therefore, most breeders will not sell a dog on breeding terms unless you co-own it & show it with them. And even then, they will be the one's to decide to whom it is bred.
So the best thing for you to do is start going to dog shows & talk with the breeders there & ask them what you can do to get involved & that you are interested in a show prospect. You will be MUCH more successful with the help of a successful breeder on your side.
